Sports: A way of life

Sports is a way of life at Tata Steel. The Company not only encourages its employees to participate in sports but also has adopted community sports as one of the key strategies to empower youth in rural areas. By organising sports tournaments in and around its area of operation, the Company intends to develop sporting talents in both rural and urban areas. Every year, Tata Steel organises community football, athletics, archery and hockey tournaments to promote the budding sporting talents.

 

In all its operational sites in the mining locations, the Company runs Feeder Centres to hone the sporting skills of rural youth in archery, athletics and football.

 

In this line, Tata Steel successfully organised first edition of Tata Steel Noamundi Run-a-thon on the theme "Run for Biodiversity". This was the first-ever run by Tata Steel in its Noamundi Iron Mine targeting the rural population.

 

Event was held on October 8, 2017 (Sunday) for 10 KM and 7 KM run (Men & Women) and 5 KM run (Boys and Girls from Schools and Colleges) and 2 KM run (Persons with Disability).

Registration will close on 30th September for 10KM, 7KM, 5KM and 2KM Run.

Top 5 finishers of all races will receive cash awards.
